The PKC family of enzymes is known to play a fundamental role in the onset of major diseases including cardiovascular and ischemic diseases, pain, cancer, diabetes and inflammation. KAI’s approach is based on the proprietary discovery that intracellular PKC enzymes can be independently and individually modulated. This unique approach overcomes lack of specificity, which has been the primary deficiency in previous attempts to develop PKC-targeted therapeutics.

KAI’s development pipeline is focused on those indications with the strongest scientific rationale and highest unmet medical need and includes programs in acute cardiovascular medicine, metabolic bone disease (renal), pain, and angiogenesis. Our compounds represent novel, first-in-class agents in each therapeutic area currently under development.

Our business strategy is twofold:  1) for broader markets, we will commercialize our portfolio through co-development/co-marketing partnerships, and 2) for specialist indications, we will retain development and commercialization rights for the US market and seek partners for ex-US territories.

We have assembled a seasoned management team and advisory board experienced in making leading-edge discoveries and translating them into successful commercial products. KAI is located in South San Francisco, California.
